• Reporting functionality and access to data for decision-making will be a critical element in systems evaluations. (All systems we're evaluating provide much-improved reporting functionality and at least a basic data warehouse structure.)
   

• IT is producing an inventory of additional systems deployed across campus that will be impacted by changes to the central systems (e.g. Blackboard, EMAS, Raiser’s Edge). Incorporation of that functionality if appropriate, or revision of interfaces if not, needs to be included within the scope of this project.
   

• Other initiatives of campus-wide impact need to be factored into the project scope (e.g. CAS/DARS, selective admissions criteria). Opportunities may also exist to integrate ERP software into academic programs (both SAP and PeopleSoft offer alliance programs for higher ed).

Firm definition of project scope is critical to successful implementation.
